You Gotta Hate Something
I hate to do CRUD (Create/Retrieve/Update/Delete). I have to go into SQL and make the stored procudures, and then make the data access codes in VB for this 4 new tables that I've made. D4mn this thing is sooo repetitive and boring. Wish I had that code generator thingies like bro Hamdi has. But even if I have one, no way it'll be used in this project, we're almost done already.
I actually have to do this yesterday, but since I hate it so much, I have to avoid doing it by strolling in the web reading nonsense things and do some blog hoppings. But I guess some things are unavoidable, I must do it sooner or later no matter what. Hey, how about you do it for me? I'll give you 20 sen per stored proc.

i've only figured out what is 'stored procedure' yesterday..adoii..ketinggalannya. baru pegangla database2 term ni.
good for you.. others most likely you'll encounter are such as "user defined function" and "triggers".. "cursors" might not be really useful, but it comes handy sometimes..
thought maybe you can check it out first. you can then show off to your boss :)
yep, came accross of those too. unfortunately, still looking where 2 start.
since you've already have an idea about stored proc, better go on with user defined function first, both are quite similar..
then go for triggers, and last cursors..
there's something called "view" but never looked into it yet.. Seems not important.. I dunno..
having a lot of knowledge in the built-in functions should make it easier for u to do jobs..
tutorials are abundant in the net, just goooogle..
weh, pehal kita cakap engrish nih?
dah petang pun stored proc ni tak siap2 lagi.. hampas, benci I..
aku nak balik la masak jemput2.. oh, kena beli bilis dulu..
" weh, pehal kita cakap engrish nih? "
entahnye. aku check idung kembang payung gak, tak mancung2..
anyway, good tips for starting. thanks. eh,tercakap 'engrish'(inggeris+irish??)lagi.
While talking about Ms SQL Server, sometimes people tell you to refer to the "books online". They actually meant the "SQL Server Books Online", the documentation for MSSQL..
The Ms Help file version of it is installed together with Ms SQL Server client tools..
The MSDN version is found here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/tsqlref/ts_fa-fz_7oqb.asp
Hope this helps..
Eh ye la.. english+irish la..
kita cakap "inggelish" pulak lah..
figured out-'stored proc' vs SQL on the fly. now i understand why u hate CRUD so much!
still goooling..couldn't grip much. haven't start any project yet. the currently doing depa ni dah nak abis.
p/s: database guna Sybase.
erm gune store procedure menyenangkan keje...tak menyemakkan coding
lilin..kalo ko nak start dr sql ..aku ade buku..latihan ade skali ar...erm.skang pakai sql dlm linux...arghhh..hate linux..sbb pc nih dah lembap...hukhukhuk
> erm gune store procedure
> menyenangkan keje...tak
> menyemakkan coding
yes, quite true..
but actually the whole concept of using SQL statements (in the form of ordinary sql in client-code or using stored proc) is a nuisance.. you have to master 2 languages, our main development code (C#, VB, Java whatever) and also SQL in the same time..
I hate doing it because there EXIST ANOTHER WAY to it in simpler way, with no SQL! That is using either a Code Generator or an Object/Relational Mapper..
being unable to use it is what makes me pissed off..
noyu: training material dia ada kasi. tggal nk study. aku blom hands-on lagi ni. simpanla material ko dulu. nnti aku nak, aku miscall.
1kHz: the last time i entered here, you did 'pantun'. this time u held english lesson.
guess what? this man really freaks me out..
Next time I'll do English pantuns..
.
.
.
using SQL statements!
That would really freak all of you out :D
ooooo..speaking ker?kena speaking ker?forum english ke ni?vb.net yer...nak gak arr blaja ngn org2 teror vb.net ni
"using SQL statements!"
mulalah tu..dah takde kerja sangat
weh, that would be a very good practice for SQL what.. you have to really know the SQL keywords to make up a pantun what..
this is a blog la.. not a forum la..
english is not mandatory here.. you can speak other languages such as korean, tagalog or even eskimo language.. but i cannot promise that'll you'll get replied :P
okeh..okeh..create one for me to look. i'll make up my mind then. make sure your pantun can make someone to be a superSQL :D
wuiiyoo..awek us masuk.
> okeh..okeh..create one for me to
> look
ahaha, i dont think i can do it.. that need serious amount of SQL wizardry and really deep understanding in the construct of artistic language manipulation :)
but we'll see if i get really bored again :D

awek us apa.. i think i got me first comment spam. Have to delete it, it has links to contents unappropriate for under-age users (and upper-age also)..
u need to master seriously in SQL to make pantun...hahhaha....
1khz u kan dah expert SQL...
pe salah nye buat pantun pakai SQL... =)
me novice only.. not even near to expert..
